How experienced is my trainer/assessor?

My name is Tracy Turner and I have been lucky enough to spend the majority of my life on the water. My experiences have included racing world class yachts, captaining luxury powerboats and learning respect for the ocean. 

I have obtained in my travels my RYA Yachtmaster Offshore (International Captains licence) along with my AMSA approved Master 24 (Australian commercial ticket). And  a couple more. I am a Current Blue Card holder.

I have been faced with all types of "scary" while crossing the world's oceans. Crazy weather, crazy big sea. Reaction time is critical.

With my experiences and qualification as an accredited BoatSafe trainer through MSQ and Yachtmaster Offshore, it's up to me to pass that knowledge onto you.

Can I use my boat licence as a jet ski licence?

Unfortunately not, you must have seperate licences for both.

You need a valid boat licence to obtain a PWC (jetski) Licence -  this is a Queensland Transport requirement.

How old do I have to be to get a boat licence and a jet ski licence?

Do the course at 15 and half years old. On your 16th birthday you can get the licence from TMR.

Do I need my own boat or jet ski to get a licence?

No, I supply the boat and the ski that has been approved by AMSA.

What happens in bad weather?

The course may be cancelled or rescheduled due to weather. You will be advised.

What if i have learning difficulties?

The objective is to complete all the assessments successfully at the highest standard. Should you have any LLN learning difficulties, please let me know in advance so I can accommodate you. I am here to help and I can help you with the reading of the theory assessment and writing if you need. 
To assist, one-on-one courses are available but may incur additional costs.  Please call me to discuss your individual needs prior to booking.

Do i need to practice?

I encourage you to practise driving the boat and/or jetski with a licenced skipper before arriving at the BoatSafe course-you may not be competent in driving in just one day. If a student requires additional practice or training prior to completion of the practical assessment, you will be provided with this opportunity as appropriate.

The practical training videos  explain what will be expected of you on the day.

Licence to Drive / Statement of Competency (SOC)

Once you are deemed competent, you will be issued with a Statement of Competency (SOC). This is not a licence to drive.

You need to take the Statement of Competency (SOC) to the Department of Transport Customer Service Centre and hand the paperwork in before you are legally allowed to drive.

Can I use my boat licence and my jet ski licence inter-state?

Yes. As long as you follow their rules and regulations . The rules differ from state to state.

Do I get lifetime ongoing support after I do this course with you?

Yes you do. Call me any time, no matter how small the question.

Can you help me with locating a PWC for sale?

Jetskishop.com are very friendly. Easy to talk to regarding the pros and cons.  Ask about the Breaky Club to gain some post course experience. Their backup service is second to none.
